At Pre-Law Forum you will have the opportunity to meet lawyers. You will listen to a panel and have a chance to ask them questions – any questions.
The 2010 list of speakers will confirm throughout the spring. But, by way of example the 2009 speakers included:
– Gil Lan
Gil Lan, B.Sc., LL.B., LL.M., Ph.D. (Candidate), is a full time professor at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University where he teaches corporate and commercial law. Professor Lan is a qualified lawyer, called to both the Bars of Ontario and New York, and has extensive experience as a practicing lawyer particularly with respect to international business transactions.
In addition, Professor Lan has often been cross-appointed as an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School where he has taught courses in corporate law, Chinese law and international business law in both the LL.B. and LL.M. programs. Recently, he was appointed by the Law Society of Upper Canada to draft bar examination questions for the corporate-commercial bar exams.
He has co-authored a text on business law which was well received by the legal community and is often used a law school textbook for courses on small-medium sized business enterprises and business law clinics. He has published numerous other works including articles in specialized academic journals and often participates as a speaker in conferences and seminars relating to his specialties. He has also received a certificate of commendation from the Ontario government for his contributions to the Toronto Asian community.
Professor Lan is in the process of completing his doctoral dissertation. His current doctoral research is a continuation of his interest in international business law. His dissertation closely examines the interaction between Chinese and Western commercial legal systems as well as the factors that have contributed to China’s remarkable economic growth and combines well with his practical legal experience regarding China-North America transactions.

“Meleni David is a prominent civil litigation lawyer practicing in Scarborough .
